Energy efficiency programs are paying off for Progress Energy customers in Marion County | Ocala.com:

"The drop in energy use was a 45 percent reduction since Progress Energy started the program in 2007, enough to power 5,500 homes for a year, according to utility spokesman Tim Leljedal.

Savings for 2010 are not yet available.

The 87,000 megawatt-hours in savings is a record for the Save the Watts program, which is geared toward reducing energy use by the company’s 1.6 million Florida customers."
