Government mulls energy efficiency audits - The Standard

KUDZAI CHIMHANGWA

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has already engaged a
consulting firm, Sustainable African Energy Consortium (Saec) to
conduct a national energy efficiency audit for Zimbabwe.

Director for Energy Conservation in the ministry of Energy and Power
Development, Raphael Tirivanhu said the ministry, through Zera, would
carry out a national energy efficiency audit so as to determine the
national efficiency baseline. This would ultimately lead to the
formulation of an energy efficiency strategy for the country.

“The purpose of the energy efficiency strategy will be to promote
mandatory energy audits and regulate energy efficiency and conservation
in all energy demand sectors as well as promote investment in this
area,” he said.
